Back when I used to write poems on love

Who Hurt You

"Who hurt you?"

I have a fear of tired eyes

When I whisper, soft as summer breeze

And you look at me weary

With eyes watching only

For your eyelids barely kept unshut

Like they do me a courtesy royal

And know me but yearn to forget

Like the spring that went too soon

And you bear no more my gentle tuck

Your tired eyes

Turn me into a raging desert wind

Thundering but at whom

And I storm away, weighed down

By a million sands

"Who hurt you?"

It was the gaze of tender love

The teary twinkle in your eyes

Like you had found the star

That made the dust of who you are

And its ghostly memory void

Now only tired, dry eyes

"Who hurt you?"

Your eyes, and the way they look at me but never see me

Like they glimpse right through me

Reminded of their own hurt

Locked behind a shell

Of fear in an unyielding hell

"Who hurt you?"

Not you

Never you

"Who hurt you?"...

"Who hurt you?"...

"Who hurt you?"

Your hurt

And your shell

For all your hurt

"Who hurt you?"

No. Who hurt you?

First

The first lioness

That ever chased a deer

Did she know

Her love was so fatal

That eating her shame

Was her only choice?

The first eagle

That ever soared

And fell down her nest

And roared

Could she imagine

Her wings were escape?

The first wolf

That ever dug his prey

Was he aware

He wasn't chasing a hunt

But escaping a hurt?

The first python

That ever choked

That did hug

Without hands, but with love

How hard did he think

He could smother?

And the first human

That ever mourned

The thirst of his love

Did he know

His tear wasn't water?

May

Oh dear innocence

Soft, loving reverence

Blisking in tender moonlight

Warm, kind permanence

Watchful benevolence

Soaking the dark of the night

Your elegance and salience

My prurience and insolence

Your residence in radiance

My transience of penitence

I pray that you will be alright

Sweet summer fragrance

Forgive my vagrance

It's been too long to your sight

I am my ignorance

You're your deliverance

I bow down to your gentle might

My adamance of severance

Your endurance of temparence

My petulance, your tolerance

My recurrence, your sufferance

Stay here and make me as bright

Oh dear innocence

All giving innocence

Out of sight, but etched in my mind

Again

And I fall in love still

If from across the room

I sense your eyes fall

With impatience of shame

Of grief you call by many names

Like a bus looking at a passing train

With the same yearning

It knows in kids it holds

And I fall in love sad

If from behind shut lips

I sense your sighs call

For the darkness of womb

To drown you ever

Like stardust or vacuum

I fall in love yes

After everything

Can't believe I fall in love still

fin.
